It took me a while to find the perfect position to feel semi-comfortable, but I knew that I would be fine as long as I didn’t move. I’ve sent your link to several friends who are considering new mattresses or complaining of back pain and their beds. I chose the topper because I’d already bought a new mattress (not a Serta) and I was attracted to the cooling quality. It’s an enhancement (that works great to alleviate back pain) but it is not a replacement for a mattress. It has definitely given me better quality sleep and eased my back pain tremendously. With just the mattress, I could not lay on my back, or either side for too long without having pain.
That may be, I’ve never slept on one long enough to know what it’s like after my body has gotten used to it. All I can tell you for SURE is that so many of them come back to the store just because it is such a different kind of mattress to sleep on every night. I was beginning to wonder if memory foam mattress manufacturers haven’t started making them more firm for the reasons I explained, above.
He measured the depth of the sagging and filed a report for us. We received a phone call today saying Kingsdown is allowing us to re-select a mattress up to the value of the original purchase. We are sorry to see our mattress go as it served us well for 4 years but we are very thankful that the comfort guarantee is being honored. So we have had this mattress which continues to sag – and now 6 years later it’s awful.
I don’t always rotate like they suggest and not even sure how often that is, I even have had the unfortunate incident of a bed wetter soiling my mattress. Until I reached my late 50s, I paid scant attention to beds or to mattress quality, as I never suffered from back pain, hip pain, neck pain etc. Then I bought myself a super-quality expensive King Koil mattress in 2006 and within weeks felt a hundred years old with every back, hip, knee and neck pain you could imagine. I did not know if the newly acquired body pains were caused by the new King Koil mattress or by the stress of my new job, as I had no credible proof.
We were told by both Mattress Discounters and Simmons that since the non-weight bearing depression was not greater than 1.5 inches, that it was not considered defective! We are exchanging it for another brand, as we can not take a chance on getting another defective mattress. We have been having problems with back pain from the springs in the center of the bed completely going out. They were kind enough to send out 400 dollars in-store credit towards the purchase of a new mattress. When it comes time for a new mattress.. I’ll take a look at all brands.. but will give extra kudos to Simmons.
I did not know that memory foam mattress may not be good to sleep on. I have been shopping for a foam mattress and was holding out for the right price. There are some mattress stores that will let you ’borrow’ their various toppers to try them out before you buy them. Everything seemed fine, mattress is like quick sand and sometimes I wonder if that is the way this things are supposed to work.
My question was not difficult: what material is in the mattress and where does it come from. An investigator came and although our mattress had been covered and was a clean as new, said the depression wasn’t deep enough to warrant a new mattress or any kind of corrective measure. Even the cheapest mattress should give you 3 years of use, and the W Bed is being sold (and priced) as a premium product.
Luckily, we had left the other bed on the floor of the bedroom until we could figure out what to do with it so I insisted we sleep on the old mattress so that nothing happened to the new bed since the saleslady had said that any kind of stain voided the warranty. The worthless, severely […]
